Fine Arts
An unparalleled staff of widely experienced, working artists
ensures that Fine Arts are an integral part of daily life at Charleston
Collegiate. This devoted team of professionals provides classes in the visual
arts, music, theatre, and film to students in all grades.
Lower and Middle School students are instructed in drama, art, and music. Middle School students can also begin learning about digital filmmaking in our media class. In the Upper School, elective classes are available in: choir, music theory, glass and metal work, jewelry making, sculpture, drawing and painting, sequential art, acting, directing, creative writing, film studies, and filmmaking. Musical concerts are presented throughout the year, in addition to an average of a dozen plays produced each year on both the main stage and in our Lunchtime Guerrilla Theatre. The school year concludes with our acclaimed Fine Arts Week, which features professional dancers, musicians, and artisans in addition to our student art show, a student film festival, concerts by our award-winning choruses, and our spring play. In the summertime, we offer a three-week music and drama camp that culminates in the production of a full-length musical. We also offer camps in ceramics, puppetry, mosaics, sculpture, sequential art, and digital filmmaking. Detailed information about the Summer Camps is available in the spring of each year.
