Our 3,000-square foot polyculture garden is home to many flowers, plants and herbs, such as basil, mint, tomatoes, okra, and zinnias. The garden is used as an extension of our classroom, where students can study science, history, art, entrepreneurship, and even Spanish while learning about horticulture, herbs, and vegetables.

Vegetables and herbs from our garden are used in our lunch program, as well as distributed to local clinics and food banks. On occasion, students put their entrepreneurial skills to use, selling produce from the garden at local farmers markets to raise funds for student campus initiatives or other non-profits.

Last year, the 9th grade class repurposed an old soccer goal set, doing meticulous research to create a fully functioning greenhouse. This greenhouse hosts many different plant species, and is a great way for students to experience other elements of gardening and cross-curricular learning.
