Charleston Collegiate School is an independent day school which strives to recognize, nurture, and challenge each of its students. Organized as a Lower School (PS-4), Middle School (5-8), and Upper School (9-12), CCS is the only co-educational, non-sectarian, preschool through 12th grade, independent school in Charleston’s metropolitan area.
Charleston Collegiate School offers a thirty-acre campus of vast playing fields and wooded trails and is located only twenty minutes from Charleston’s historic district on one side and Kiawah Island on the other.
CCS has a challenging, yet supportive, learning community that coaches students to become lifelong learners. A CCS education uses the pillars of project-based learning, financial literacy, artistic expression, and leadership/ outdoor education to teach a high quality education to a diverse student body.
Charleston Collegiate School's curriculum is based on our Four Pillars of Education: Project-based Learning, Creativity and the Arts, Leadership through Outdoor Education, and Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship. Our teachers use these pillars to provide a high-quality education to a diverse student body.
Our teachers are creative, energetic, highly-skilled, and passionate about collaborative learning. They employ a hands-on, "teacher as coach" methodology and are able to connect educational lessons to life experiences. Our teachers have a proven track record of success with diverse learners, and their teaching methods incorporate problem solving in the classroom and innovatively use technology in the students' learning experiences.
